President's intro

Establishment of the Academy of Forensic Sciences is an important achievement towards transparency, higher quality, and internationalization of forensic work in our region. These objectives are defined in the statutes of the Academy and I believe they express, from one side, current needs of development of the forensic sciences,  from the other side, view of the vast majority of you, experts in this field.

Development, promotion and improvement of forensic science does not start from scratch. Criminological and forensic theory and practice, that has been developed for decades in our Central European region, has deep roots and has achieved significant local and international success and recognition. Together, we are ready to build on these successes and further develop the forensic sciences.

The last but not least I must mention the people who develop forensic science and implement theoretical knowledge in practice. Dozens of dedicated top professionals every day help especially our police and courts to make wise adjudicates. Their acknowledgement is far below their qualifications and the importance of their work for the state. Along with improving the professional level it must follow the prestige and appreciation for you all, expert witnesses, forensic experts.

I believe that the Academy of Forensic Sciences can significantly helps in this process.

Viktor Porada
